Open Faculty Position / (reward system, action selection, memory, and
social neuroscience)
National University of Singapore
We are looking for a young research talent for a joint position as
tenure-track faculty of the NUS Psychology department and as a group
lead within the Games Lab of the Interactive and Digital Media Institute
(IDMI). The candidate should have background in the area of the reward
system, action selection, memory, and/or social neuroscience, and be
interested in tackling questions related to entertainment/gaming
experiences, like "which are the factors and mechanics regulating reward
magnitude", "how are reward and pleasure correlated", "which are the
factors and mechanics regulating the memory of a reward experience",
"how does social reward work", "what are the mechanics of persuasion"
etc.
Besides work at the Psychology department and IDMI, the candidate will
be able to cooperate with the National University Hospital for the
research, e.g., making use of some of the world's most powerful
head/brain imaging facilities.

The Psychology programme of the National University of Singapore was
first introduced during the 1986-87 academic year and is the oldest
psychology programme in Singapore. NUS offers a full undergraduate
programme, including an honours course, as well as Masters and Ph.D.
programmes. Since its inception, the psychology programme has attracted
a strong response from students in the Faculty of Arts & Social

The Interactive and Digital Media Institute of the National University
of Singapore was set up in 2007 and hosts multi-disciplinary
laboratories on Games, Mixed Reality, Ambient Intelligence, Arts and
Creativity, Multimedia Sensing, Multimodal Analysis, Social and
Cognitive, and Social Robotics. The Games Lab itself focuses on
artificial intelligence and experience generation, procedural content
generation, and neurological/psychological basics. The candidate will
take over the group lead role for the last area.
