German-Japanese Research Collaboration: Position in Spoken Dialogue
Systems Research with the Perspective of a PhD Degree in Computer
Science or Engineering Sciences

The Dialogue Systems Group (www.dialogue-systems.de) at Ulm University
(Germany) and the Speech and Language Research Group of the National
Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Kyoto (Japan) -
formally ATR Spoken Language Communication Laboratories - are jointly
seeking a Researcher at Diploma/MSc level to work in the area of
spoken language dialogue systems. A focus should be placed on dialogue
modelling for assistive human-computer interaction. The common joint
research activity will include research stays at the respective
institutes.

Perspective of the announced position: PhD Thesis in Engineering or
Computer Science.

Requirements: Good programming skills in VoiceXML, Java, JavaScript
and experience with Unix/Linux are highly desirable; expertise in
speech and dialogue technologies would also be appreciated.  Language
skills in English are mandatory. Japanese and German language skills
would be helpful.

The appointment has a fixed duration of a maximum of 36 months.
