Dialonics is currently hiring a research engineer in the field of 
conversational agents.

The company

Dialonics is a start-up company founded by former members of Orange Labs.
With nearly 60 years of cumulative background of research and 
engineering in the
field of natural dialogue, Dialonics edits NabuTalk, an innovative software
technology aimed at developping advanced interfaces that interact in natural
language with users.

The targeted applications range from conversational agents hosted on servers
for web-based e-commerce applications, instant messaging systems or 
interactive
voice response systems, to virtual characters embedded in specific 
software or
hardware pieces for video games, serious games, simulators or edutainment
robotics.

Job duties
----------
If you newly obtained your PhD and feel a genuine interest in human-computer
interaction technologies, you will be welcome to join Dialonics' R&D team.
Dialonics is foremost seeking technical skills to improve the realism of its
implemented interaction models, especially in the applicative contexts of
e-learning and serious gaming.

You will carry out R&D activities in close connection with the 
operational team.
You will work on both internal and collaborative (national or international)
projects, and you will also publish and present your work in scientific 
contexts.

This post is to be filled as of January 2010, as a permanent contract. It is
located in Lannion, France. Salary depending on professional experience.

Job knowledge, skills and abilities
-----------------------------------
* PhD, with no open-ended contract since the PhD degree, in one of the 
following
  fields of Artificial Intelligence: formal models of interaction, 
formal models
  of cognitive agents, knowledge representation and reasoning,
* Applicants should preferably have a prior experience (e.g. post-doc) 
in the
  field of conversational agents,
* Strong background in symbolic and logic programming (Prolog, Lisp, 
Caml...),
* French and English, spoken and written,
* Excellent interpersonal skills, natural enthusiasm and creativity will be
  appreciated,
* Autonomy and rigour at work.
